Since the last BWA membership meeting on Feb. 25, the board made several requests to meet with Coal Valley to discuss the possibility of BWA purchasing water from Coal Valley at a wholesale rate. Several board members met with the village president and city administrator on April 18. They expressed interest in the plan but will need up to 1 month in order to present the plan to the village board and to develop cost plans. There timetable to construct a water tower is 4-5 years.

Several board members have met with 2 painting contractors to receive proposals to paint the interior of our tower in order to guarantee its viability for 5 years. We are waiting on those proposals. The board has also applied for a low interest loan from the EPA for construction of  a new BWA tower. The EPA will notify us sometime this summer if we will be eligible for the loan. The Maguire Iron bid for a new BWA tower will expire on May 1. Once the Board hears back from Coal Valley we will schedule another membership meeting.
